Back up and running!

Hey everyone, so as you may know i've taken a few months off, along with Ace... and it's about time we get this blog up and running again. Just thought i would mention that Ace won't be returning to the blog, this is now a one man show.

Just because i've been out of blogging for the last few months, doesn't mean i didn't watch the games, or hear about them... somehow. I've watched almost every game, and i know that this team is more ready for the postseason than they have been in years.

Now you may be a little worried with CC's last start at Tampa Bay, which i don't blame you, but you may as well get his bad start over with before the postseason. Honestly, i feel better knowing he's bombed a start before the playoffs going in than knowing he hasn't. The last thing anyone wants is to throw CC out there for game one against the Tigers or Twins and have him blow up... figuratively and literally. I mean, the guys been absolutely unhittable for almost two months, it was bound to happen. But i'm expecting alot of fist pumping from CC this postseason, and definitely looking forward to it.

A.J. Burnett is a different story, you don't want to throw him out there after a string of bad starts, he's too streaky. Though he may snap out of it--it was very important they had him feeling good and on a decent roll before sending him in for game 2.

Regarding the offensive concerns, of course A-Rod will be on the top of that list, but i think it's about time he snaps out of it. Having Teix hit in front of him, i think help takes off a load of pressure to have him produce. I know all of you remember the last few postseasons with him, he was pressing and trying too hard. Now, i'm not saying he won't be pressing this time, but having Teix there in front of him, must take off a load of the pressure.

Look for Nick Swisher to have a huge ALDS, i can feel he's ready for it. He's just one of those guys you know can come through for you in these types of games...

Naturally having success in the playoffs relies on dominant starting pitching... if the Yankees get decent starting pitching, these teams are in trouble.

A-Rod = Bernard Madoff?

I saw an interesting article about how you can tell someone's personality by their face... oddly enough, A-Rod was similar to Bernard Madoff...

here's what this woman had to say about A-Rod...

"His face is the archetype of a lover's. The tops of his ears are pointed, showing emotional volatility. His upper lip is bigger than his lower lip, showing he tends to create drama in a relationship. He's not an easy-going guy."

I didn't need to look at his face to know that...

I also felt the description of Bernard Madoff could be used for Alex...

This may very well be the biggest load of bull... i have ever read...but whatever, thought you guys would find that interesting... now here's a video....

Minor Thoughts: A-Rod, WBC, Yankees

Sorry for the lack of posts in the last few days, Ace and myself were both unable to find the time to write something. I have several thoughts on a few things that have happened since our last entry.

Alex Rodriguez has decided to have surgery, he will miss anywhere from 6-9 weeks. This was actually a smart move, whether you like it or not, had Alex played through his injury, he may have just been miserable, and possibly worsen the injury, i.e Mike Lowell last year.

But now the question remains, who will play 3B for the Yankees while he is out? There are very few options within the Yankees system to take the role, like Ransom and.... uhhh... ok Ransom is the only viable candidate i can think of.

The Yankees could make a trade for someone like Hank Blalock or Chone Figgins, two options Peter Abraham mentioned on his blog. However i would be O.K. with Cody Ransom filling in for the time period, this just means someone is going to have to pick up the slack for A-Rod. The Red Sox lost David Ortiz last year, the only reason they stayed in contention was because of JD Drew stepping up and crushing the ball while he was gone.

Players i can see taking this step... Robinson Cano, Xavier Nady or Nick Swisher. Ofcourse players like Mark Teixeira and Derek Jeter are going to have stellar numbers, but i'm saying, someone who will break out of their shell and help pick up the slack, i.e the players i listed above.

Through all the controversy with A-Rod, i still think the Yankees are destined to have a spectacular season, as long as everyone performs to their expectations...and possibly even better than expected.

I'm slowly gaining interest in the World Baseball Classic, i have seen a few games, the USA vs. Canada, Panama vs. Puerto Rico and the Netherlands vs. the Domincan Republic.

The USA game was somewhat boring for me, i actually stopped watching to play some MLB 2k9 after the 4th inning, but i went back for the 9th to watch the ending.

There were a few things that shocked and upset me Saturday...

First, Sidney Ponson beat the Dominican Republic team...

yea... him...

Secondly, Pudge Rodriguez had two homeruns against Panama...

Wait, he was a Yankee?

Finally, Bernie Williams had one at-bat for Puerto Rico...

...and was intentionally walked...

So all in all, i was... somewhat entertained by the WBC on Saturday.

Can we please stop taking photos from A-rods press conferences with him having funny expressions on his face. Have you never been caught in an awkward face when people were taking pictures of you? come on now...


Stop trying to make something out of nothing...

Alex speaks

Sadly, today Alex Rodriguez has admitted to using a banned substance durring the time periods of 2001-03. Yankee fans should be dissapointed, yet at the same time... relieved and grateful that Alex had come forward and admitted what he had done.

It's clear he has made the right choice in this situation, he chose to spare any dignity he had left, be a man and confess the biggest secret of his life. In some ways, maybe we should thank Roger Clemens, Barry Bonds and Raphael Palmiero for lying about taking steroids, because maybe Alex wouldn't have come forward. Of course Alex's admitting of his usage is the beginning of a long journey for him, but it's a step in the right direction.

you can tell by his movements that he deeply regrets what he did, yet there are still some unanswered questions... he doesn't know what he took? that sounds a little flaky to me.

I would just like to note, now that A-Rod has admitted to taking the illegal substance, i am fully prepared to support him in any way possible... that is until he starts to go 0-5 with 2 DP and 2 strikeouts with 7 men LoB against the Red Sox in late August (i.e the 2008 season... i was at this game)

This is the last thing i will be posting on the A-rod steroids situation... i don't feel like overwhelming all you Yankee fans with the same thing you're reading everywhere, just thought i'd give my opinion on the matter.

What's going to happen?

Sportscenter has teased me over the past few years, presenting me with false rumors/news... last year for example, i woke up to see a breaking news report...

"Sad day for Yankee fans... New York Yankees starting pitcher Joba Chamberlain....(Oh shit, Joba is dead!) will be in Nevada for the next week to be with his father who is ill."

Thankyou for the heart attack you just gave me Sportscenter.

Then there was yesterday morning...

"Breaking News here on Sportscenter, Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez tested positive for steroids."

'hahaha... very funny... A-Rod on steroids? blasphemy! he'd denied the allogations made by Jose Canseco last spring training like it was nothing, this can't be true, stupid sportscenter...'

Unfortunately for me, Sportscenter was telling the truth... A-Rod has in fact tested positive for steroids, according to 4 sources, one including Sports Illustrated.

But what does this all mean now, last year Alex dealt with the Jose Conseco situation so suave no one thought anything of it, even calling Canseco a bafoon for making such crazy allogations. He went on to play the 08 season poorly and extremely un-clutch with his biggest problem being.... Madonna?

We are now about to enter the 09 season with the news of our best hitter taking steroids. If he wants to set things straight for this upcoming season, he needs to really take things under his wing and admit to anything he had done. Lie about it and you can end up looking like a dumbass, i.e Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Raphael Palmeiro; however, tell the truth and things will certainly turn out better for you, just look at Andy Pettite and Jason Giambi.

This then leads me to wonder, what's going to happen? Is A-Rod going to be suspended? Will he deny the reports? Will he confess to using steroids? Will Yankee fans support him if he confesses? Will the Organization support him if he confesses?

...and we all thought our biggest problem was from a book Joe Torre wrote... ha!

But in all seriousness, i will stand by A-Rod if he confesses to taking steroids, if he doesn't... well... we'll see.

To put into perspective how screwed A-Rod is right now... Alex is more fucked than this guy.

Fight night?

So, i noticed every blog had their own special thing they do for their site every once in a while... and i thought, how about once a week... i stage a fake fight between players... tell me what you think...

Fighter 1: Alex Rodriguez

Fighting style: Open palm slams.... come on you saw what he did to Jason Varitek.

Special Ability: he throws flaming dollar bills... why? because he can.

Strengths: he can sure deal out the damage when his enemies are down, and make sure they stay down... hmm sounds alot like how he plays baseball...

Weakness: Reminding him of his good 'friend' Madonna will put him into a depressed mind state therefore leading him into a slump where he will strike out... err i mean be vulnurable to any sort of attack.

Fighter 2:Manny Ramirez

Fighting Style: He doesnt have one, he sends in a stunt double to do the fighting for him... and he just comes in at the end so it looks like he was fighting the whooole time...

Special Ability: He can put you in a choke hold with his hair!

Strengths: You won't have to worry about him suffering any kind of injury, he won't accelerate to a speed higher than... slow jog?

Weakness: His hair, you cut it off and he will begin to weep uncontrollably giving his enemies enough time to pin him to the ground and win the fight.

Winner: A-Rod... come on... he shoots flaming dollar bills... the guy has millions of them (Manny's hair sure does look flammable... he never stood a chance).

As if these athletes needed MORE money...
